OXIDIZING

Silver and copper ionization of the water works better then chlorine in killng bacteria and algea, to give you sparkling clean and pure water. But, the ionization and minerals do not break down oils. Oils come in the form of natural human body oils released via persperation, or chuldren uninating, they come from suntan lotions and other body lotions, and they come from the oils of plants (leaves) that wind up in your pool. These oils are broken down by an oxigenation process. This is the one good feature of chlorine. Chlorine works as a halogen, or oxidizor that breaks down these oils.

If you only use one of our ionizor units, you will need to oxidate your pool from time to time. How often depends. Typical events that require oxidizng afterwards would be a pool party where a number of people were in the pool at one time. Or after a storm and lots of plant debri enters the pool. Or after several small children were in the pool. Or whenever the water turns a bit milky, this is an indication that you need to oxidize the water.

Another way to do so is that after any of the above situations you can simply pour in a gallon of ordinary laundry bleach in the pool. That amount of chlorine will oxidze the water and break down the oils, yet this small amount of chlorine will evaporate over night. The next day the pool will be chlorine free again for swimming.
